On Boxing Day of 2022, My wife Caitlin and I received the devastating news that Cait had experienced a miscarriage and the loss of our second child at 12 weeks. There was no common signs of a miscarriage, and from all reports everything pointed to a standard pregnancy. It was hard as a father to lose a child, but I can not put into words the heart ache I felt for Cait and the hardship women have to experience through pregnancy loss.
I will be running a number of events for The Pink Elephants Charity to raise awareness and support for such a amazing cause. I will start with the Wollongong Half Marathon in June 2023, followed by the Sydney Marathon in September 2023. My final run will be a 60km run to raise awareness (Route to be finalised.) in Early 2024.
Not a day goes by that I do not think about our baby and the life it could have had in this world. Although I am blessed that Cait and I have our beautiful daughter Emilia, to help us through the hard times.
My goal is to raise money the The Pink Elephants Charity, please spend time to read below for what they provide.
"Pink Elephants provides the latest resources, information and peer-support for anyone impacted by early pregnancy loss. Using evidence, empathy and connection, our unique digital-first approach offers a single source of specialist support, whenever and wherever it’s needed — for anyone who has directly experienced it, for family and friends, corporate partners or healthcare professionals seeking proven ways to help. With so much of the current experience of miscarriage based on old science, outdated perceptions, social anxiety and mistruths, Pink Elephants aims to right the story of early pregnancy loss by smashing the stigma and leading a new narrative, creating a healthier experience for all. Founded in Sydney, Australia, in 2016, Pink Elephants is a registered not-for-profit that gratefully accepts donations to empower their #circleofsupport"
