Pink Elephant provides the latest resources, information and peer-support for anyone impacted by early pregnancy loss. Within an elephant community, if a mother elephant loses her baby, the other elephants use their trunks to form a physical circle of support around her. How beautiful is that?! We estimate that 1 in 4 pregnancies end in miscarriage, and oftentimes it is met with shock, confusion and social stigma.

When I fell pregnant in Jan 2023 with my second baby, I was elated. I had already had a healthy baby boy, and so the thought of miscarriage hadn't crossed my mind. So, when the sonographer in a medical clinic in the USA uttered the words "I am sorry, there is no heartbeat", I was numb. I was then met with professionals who mumbled medical terminology at me, had to endure a 15+ hour flight home, and immediately booked a procedure to remove my baby in which I had to stay for over 8 hours [alone] in a hospital [w pregnant women] before waking up [alone] with no aftercare. I felt confused, unsupported and lost, trying to navigate a space that was so foreign to me. I decided that I had to talk about my loss to deal with my loss, and upon this spoke to so many women who had also experienced a loss. If it is so common, why aren't more people talking about it? Why does it make us uncomfortable? More needs to be done in social circles, workplaces and in society to raise awareness and break barriers.

So let's get together, wear our best pink outfit, listen to some stories, have a cuppa [or three], and kick that stinkin' stigma square in the face!
